Over 3 years experience private Spanish tutoring. 3 months of college-level Spanish tutoring at the Pasadena City College tutoring center. 10 months teaching ESL in Prague in the Czech Republic. 6 months experience as a Youth Worker at an educational after-school youth center program. 1 month AP test prep tutoring experience. 4 years of volunteer work, planning activities and events for junior high students through the program Younglife. I love being a tutor because of my passion for languages and for people. As a linguist, I have studied Spanish, English, French, Mandarin, and Arabic at the University level, but Spanish is by far my strongest language. Strategic studies in Spanish and such a wide exposure to other languages allows me to be able to teach students the patterns of how language works. I never simply tell students, "That's just the way it is." I always explain the reason why and demonstrate how it applies to the lesson at hand. My goal is not only to help each student with momentary problems, but more so to build overall understanding for how each aspect of the target language works. My hope is that every student will eventually be self-sufficient in their presently difficult subject.

Hobbies

As far as hobbies, I love music. I play the guitar, drums and some piano. I have also taken various kinds of social dance classes at both the high school and college levels. During my free time, I enjoy having bon fires at the beach, playing board games and disk golf. I am involved with my church as well and love spending time with friends and family.
